72-Hour Film Challenge

72-Hour Film Challenge

About

72 hours to write, shoot, and edit a film

The 72-Hour Filmmaking Challenge is one of the most exciting (and surprising) parts of FOKUS! Participants will have the opportunity to write, shoot and edit a short film within 72 hours based on a list of prompts that will be sent on Thursday, March 14th at 6:00 PM EST. Selected films will be screened at FOKUS on March 21st at Cinéma du Parc from 7:00-9:00 PM.

Rules you should know before you sign up/shoot:

  • Groups must have at least 3 and at most 10 members, with at least one member being a current student at McGill. *You must fill out this form as a COMPLETE team.*

  • Films may not exceed 10 minutes in length.

  • Films must include the given prompts.

  • The given prompt must act as a plot device in some way, big or small, that moves the narrative forward.

  • Short films must be submitted before March 17th at 6:00 PM EST.

Participating teams that do not abide by these rules will be DISQUALIFIED from the 72-hour film race. For any questions about the challenge you may have email fokus.72hr@tvmtelevision.com.

The prompt will be communicated to all registered participants via e-mail at the start of the race. The prompt can be a word, a sentence, or a prop.

You do not need any fancy equipment, (iPhones are fine!) although you are welcome to use whatever equipment you have access to.

Fill out the form below to sign up and good luck! DEADLINE TO SIGN UP IS MARCH 12th!
