72-Hour Film Challenge

72-Hour Film Challenge

About

72 hours to write, shoot, and edit one film.

The 72-Hour Filmmaking Challenge is one of the most entertaining (and unexpected) parts of FOKUS. Participants will have the opportunity to create a short film based on a list of prompts that will be sent on Thursday, March 13th at 6:00 PM EST. Contestants will then have 72 hours to complete their films. Those who complete the challenge in time will have their work screened at FOKUS.

Contest Rules:

  • Groups must have at least 3 and at most 10 members, with at least one member being a current student at McGill. *You must fill out this form as a COMPLETE team.*

  • Films may not exceed 10 minutes in length.

  • Films must include the given prompts.

  • The given prompts must act as a plot device in some way, big or small, that moves the narrative forward.

  • Short films must be submitted before Sunday, March 16th at 6:00 PM EST.

  • The deadline to sign up is March 6th.

Participating teams that do not abide by these rules will be DISQUALIFIED from the 72-hour film race. For any questions about the challenge you may have email fokus.72hr@tvmtelevision.com.

The prompts will be communicated to all registered participants via e-mail at the start of the race.

You do not need any fancy equipment, (iPhones are fine) although you are welcome to use whatever equipment you have access to.
